Céad Míle Fáilte to Snasta - a three-piece trad band hailing from Dublin, Monaghan and Cavan. Born from a shared love of Irish music, they’ve been making waves across Melbourne and beyond since arriving. We’re proud to host Snasta as our official trad residency every second Thursday.
In true Irish tradition, a seisiún isn’t just a gig - it’s a gathering. Rooted in storytelling and community, seisiúns began in kitchens and country pubs across Ireland, where musicians came together to share tunes, songs, and a bit of magic - no stage, no spotlight, just music and company.
Pull up a chair. Bring your instrument, your dancing shoes, or just yourself for the craic.
Every Second Thursday | From 7pm

In the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, a traditional Irish bar sits on Collins Street. Formerly known as Turf Bar, the venue served Melbourne locals for more than 25 years before closing its doors at the end of 2025 after a long and successful run.
Working locally at the time, founder Conor Wiley saw an opportunity to create something new while honouring the spirit of what came before - a place that felt warm, welcoming, and full of character.
After emigrating from Ireland to Melbourne in 2014, Conor began his hospitality career working behind the bar, learning the trade from the ground up. Over the years, he developed his craft and went on to become General Manager of another well-established CBD venue. When the Collins Street site became available, he knew it was the perfect opportunity to bring a piece of home to the heart of Melbourne.
Harp & Hound officially opened its doors on St Patrick’s Day, March 17th, 2026.

The harp is a tribute to Ireland’s rich musical tradition. Music has shaped Irish culture for centuries, with the harp, fiddle, flute, and bodhrán carrying stories of love, struggle, humour, and community across generations. As Ireland’s national instrument, the harp has been a symbol of identity and artistry since the 10th century. At Harp & Hound, that spirit comes alive through live music, shared stories, and the warmth of a proper Irish pub.
The hound pays tribute to Limavady, Conor’s hometown. Legend tells of a loyal wolfhound belonging to an O’Cahan chieftain who leapt across the River Roe to warn his master of approaching danger. Its courage and loyalty became forever tied to the spirit of Limavady - qualities that continue to inspire the name Harp & Hound today.

Harp & Hound is a place of comfort for everyone in Melbourne - somewhere to gather, unwind, and feel at home. Each week brings new activities and opportunities to enjoy, from Trivia Tuesdays and free pool Wednesdays to live music Thursday through Saturday. In winter, we’ll also host special events, along with Irish language and céilí classes.
A place for good pints, live sport, music, dancing, and the kind of hospitality Ireland is known for. A place for people to meet, laugh, and stay a while. Built on tradition, made for today.
There are no strangers here - only friends you haven’t met yet.
Keep your eyes peeled for exclusive Harp & Hound merch, coming soon!
